Picture day

I really need to watch what I say...
Today was picture day at school and because it's 97 degrees outside I figured the boys would wear polo shirts for their pictures. Great, that's easy. Except Kyle really wanted to wear a long sleeve button up shirt. It looked great on him, but I was worried he would be too hot at recess or on the long bus ride home. The fact that it has buttons meant he couldn't easily take it off by himself if he got hot. I pictured him roasting in it all day and I tried to convince him to wear the polo shirt, but he insisted. In a desperate last attempt to change his mind I said, "You're going to get heat stroke if you wear that shirt in 100 degree weather".

He wore it anyway and the first thing he said to me today after school was, "Mom I wore this shirt all day and I didn't get that thing you told me about". Oh yes, heatstroke. That's what I said, didn't I.

Going Home

It looks like I'll be going home this morning. It feels so bittersweet. I'm definitely ready to get home to see the boys and to sleep in my own bed tonight, but I feel like when I leave the hospital, it's all over. I'm not pregnant anymore. I'm not carrying Nathaniel anymore. I'm leaving the one place where I got to see and hold him.

The innate bond that God gives a parent for a child is incredible. It's amazing the love that's formed for someone we barely had a chance to know. Although loving so deeply hurts, I'm thankful for it.

We have some amazing pictures from Kathleen, our volunteer photographer from Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. She took over a hundred pictures and did a wonderful job. We feel so blessed to have these pictures that we will treasure forever.

Mel was so proud to show everyone his new son. He took Nathaniel around so everyone could see him.
