Eating Habits

Jacob has alwasy been a decent eater. He will usually try new things with a little prodding. He eats three good meals a day and likes to have his snacks too. I've never been concerned about what he eats.

On the flip side, his brother is the opposite. Since he was one, he's always preferred drinking to eating. The first thing he asks for in the morning is milk or juice (usually milk). Getting him to eat his breakfast first before guzzling his milk is torture. But if we give in and give him milk first, he won't eat anything. To make matters worse, he doesn't like most breakfast foods. He doesn't like cereal (unless it's dry). He doesn't like oatmeal. He rarely eats bagels or english muffins. He will occasionally eat toast, but only with cinnamon sugar. Sometimes I wish we had a chef who could prepare a breakfast buffet every morning and save me the hassle of dealing with a child with picky tastes.

Lunch time is no different. Yesterday, after exhausting a long list of options for lunch, he decided he wanted hard boiled eggs. So that was his lunch- two hard boiled eggs (without the yolks), a piece of chedder cheese and a glass of milk.

His supper last night was mashed potatoes and applesauce. Can an almost three year old survive on this kind of diet?
